'Just Cause 3' news: Multiplayer mod likely coming to the game

"Just Cause 3" may end up featuring a multiplayer mod after all.

Interestingly, the multiplayer mod coming to "Just Cause 3" will not actually be originating from the game's developers and will instead be the work of the same team that helped bring multiplayer gameplay to "Just Cause 2," GameSpot reported.

The original mod released for "Just Cause 2," known as "JC2-MP," became a hit among fans of the game.

The mod became so popular that it even helped "Just Cause 2" attract as much as 500,000 unique players each month, according to Cinema Blend.

Even the game's developers, Avalanche, have heaped praise onto the team that built the "Just Cause 2" multiplayer mod. Avalanche co-founder Christofer Sundberg even called the mod "absolutely fantastic" and said that it helped keep the game popular even long after its initial debut.

The hope now is that the modding team's follow-up effort will be as successful as or perhaps even better than their original creation.

Unfortunately, there's no set timetable as of yet for when the new mod might make its debut inside "Just Cause 3." Even without a solid release date, the mod development team has promised to share frequent updates of their current project, and hopefully, that will give fans a good idea of what they can expect from the new addition when it does eventually come out.

It's worth noting that Avalanche's Sundberg also mentioned the possibility of adding multiplayer to "Just Cause 3" at some point. Sundberg did not exactly say that the game would be receiving a multiplayer component, although he did hint that it was a possibility at the very least.

With the modding team behind team "JC2-MP" on the case again for "Just Cause 3," fans might wonder if Avalanche might just hold off on delivering their own multiplayer component even if they already have something in the works.
