Just One in a Million Faces

I recently spoke to Jon Micah, frontman of American band Kutless. He talked about the story behind their hit single "Sea of Faces", which he wrote and released three years ago. It was when he was walking around New York City that the idea struck him - everyone is so busy with their own work, they are oblivious to the surroundings. It's just like a sea of faces.

The message is simple: we're just one in a million faces - but God still loves each and every one of us individually.

It's a song I've been listening to for years, but it never came to me heart so intensely before.

We're all God's children - but we really are, one in a million faces. No matter what we do, we're just one in a million, and that fact will never change.

When we start considering ourselves anything more than this, that's when things go wrong.

As Jon Foreman from Switchfoot quotes: "To call yourself anything more than a sinner is a lie."

We're all one, but together, we make the body of Christ. Each and every thing we do matters so much to the body - each and every element we can offer for His Kingdom is unique, which makes us all special.

We're not anything more - or anything less.

As Easter approaches, we're constantly being reminded of Christ and His precious sacrifice, blood, and glorious resurrection.

As the lyrics for "Sea of Faces" go:

I am not just a man, vastly lost in this world
Lost in a Sea of Faces

Your body's the bread, Your blood is the wine
Because you traded Your life for mine

Just one in a million faces

Christ traded his life for mine. When we remember that, grace overflows in our hearts. We're one in a million faces. But we are hugely loved by the Creator of billions.
