'Justice League' cast, plot spoilers: Joe Manganiello fuels Deathstroke cameo rumors

"Magic Mike" star Joe Manganiello's involvement as Slade Wilson, also known as Deathstroke, in "Justice League" became unlikely following the behind-the-scenes changes on "The Batman." However, a recent social media post from the 40-year-old actor suggests that his appearance in the team-up film may still happen.

Over the weekend, Manganiello shared a photo on Twitter, showing his character's iconic mask. However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the newest look at the mask seems to be more damaged than it was when it appeared in Ben Affleck's teaser footage of Deathstroke. The mask now sports more scratches, implying that it has been used for filming.

It is unclear which movie the upgrades were for. However, since there is no film in production where the anti-hero is potentially involved, the now-battle-damaged mask may have been used in "Justice League."

Apart from Affleck's test footage of Deathstroke in August 2016, director Zack Snyder also hinted the character's inclusion in the upcoming film. As reported previously, he posted a behind-the-scenes photo of him working on what looked to be a storyboard of a Deathstroke scene. The assassin's iconic eye patch and swords can be seen from the tablet he is using when the photo is zoomed in. Check out the photo below:

Unfortunately, all these are speculations for now. DC remains tight-lipped about the film, and it is expected to stay mum until "Justice League" premieres on Friday, Nov. 17. Regardless, if Deathstroke is included in the film or not, fans may still get a chance to see Manganiello play the character on the big screen.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news last week that DC's number one assassin is getting his own movie with "The Raid" director Gareth Evans at the helm. Involved parties are reportedly in early talks, but nothing has been set in stone just yet. No tentative release date has been given as well.
