'Justice League' movie news: DC confirms movie releases for next six years

It can be recalled that just months ago, Marvel revealed its list of upcoming movies for the next years. Well, this isn't a surprising move from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But when competitor Warner Bros. does it, it will definitely cause a stir.

Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tusjihara recently made a presentation to company investors, Variety reports. The first topic in order is Warner Bros. cutting $200 million annually on costs, which means thousands of jobs lost in the coming years. Of course, Tusjihara had to explain why the company is making the move and why it has to happen now.

"This will allow us to expand margins and to invest in the high growth areas for upside," explained Tusjihara.

And the upside he is talking about is the superhero movies. This simply shows how valuable the DC characters are for Warner Bros. and they are focusing on them now.

He went on to confirm the DC movie schedule for the next six years. There will be "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," "Wonder Woman," "Aquaman," "The Flash," "Cyborg," and "Shazam." There will also be two "Justice League" movies and "Suicide Squad."

Further, DC will also work on a reboot for "Green Lantern" and will continue making solo movies for Superman and Batman. "Justice League" movies will feature Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Shazam, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Cyborg. Zack Synder will direct the "Justice League" movies.

Tusjihara also mentioned that they have already cast key talents for the movie line up. He revealed that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will play Black Adam in "Shazam," while Ray Fisher will play "Cyborg." "The Flash" will be played by Ezra Miller, and "Aquaman" will be played by Jason Momoa. While there's still no confirmation on which actors will play "Suicide Squad," superhero fans can bet that these will be A-list Hollywood stars, too.

It is not a usual move for Warner Bros. to come out in the open like this about their movie plans and details. Nonetheless, this could just be a part of the change that Warner Bros. wants to happen. Moreover, it shows how crucial "Dawn of Justice" will be for the future of the DC superhero movies.

Tusjihara believes that there's no better time to make the changes than now.

"This is an exciting time in our business. We're doubling down on great content, working with the best talent and focusing on our key franchises," he said.
