Justin Bieber plans Christian album release following 'Purpose'
Canadian pop superstar Justin Bieber is reportedly planning to release a Christian album as a follow up to "Purpose," which came out in 2015. The singer's upcoming fifth album will cover themes around redemption and spirituality to reflect his faith.
An insider told The Sun that Bieber has been looking for songs that touch on his outlook about his religion. The 24-year-old star has strengthened his faith through attending services and Bible studies with Hillsong Church, an Australian founded church that has became world famous through its popular praise music ministry.
"He has always been religious but the last two years have seen him grow closer to the Hillsong Church and it has changed his entire life," the source revealed. "He has a totally different outlook now."
The insider also stated that Bieber would still be working with the same people who helped "Purpose" become a hit. This time, however, his album will be more streamlined to reflect on his beliefs and values from the church. The new album, however, won't likely be out until 2019.
Meanwhile, Bieber and on-off girlfriend Selena Gomez, who is also a deeply religious millennial, have apparently gone their separate ways again after reuniting in November. The actress was recently spotted in Los Angeles on a Sunday afternoon after going to church.
Gomez was clutching a Bible in her arms as she walked to lunch with two girlfriends. She wore a long sweater that had the words "Choose Empathy" boldly written across the chest.
The former Disney star was said to have inspired Bieber to strengthen his faith but he was not with her when she flew to Australia to attend the annual Hillsong conference last week. Instead, Bieber was reportedly seen with Baskin Champion at a Craig David concert.
Sources close to Bieber, however, denied that it's over between Bieber and Gomez. Their recent separation was apparently more amicable than previous splits, and the pair are rumored to still be close.
Bieber began dating Gomez in 2010 but they broke up in 2014. They got back together in November last year until rumors of their split once again surfaced this March.
