Justin Bieber admits he still loves his ex Selena Gomez, wrote songs about her in 'Purpose' album
Try as they may to move on from one another, it looks like singers Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are both having a difficult time letting go of each other. In fact, Bieber has admitted that he still cares for Gomez a great deal.
"(She) is someone I love dearly. I'm never going to stop loving her. I'm never going to stop checking in on her," he said during an interview with Access Hollywood.
Had they fallen in love at a later time, Bieber said they might have enjoyed a more successful relationship. Unfortunately, Bieber said that both of them were still very young and immature when they got into a relationship from 2010 to 2013.
"Yeah, I wrote a song (that) didn't make the album, it was called 'If I Would Have Met You In 5 Years,'" Bieber shared. "How true is that? How many people go through life and end up meeting someone and it feels so right, but it's just the wrong time? So many people can relate to that."
Bieber, who called Gomez his "first love," also confessed that the song titled "Purpose" is mostly about Gomez, adding that two to three songs from the album are about his ex-girlfriend.
"It was really tough. I don't know if I'm over it yet," Bieber said about their failed relationship. "I think that I'm definitely in another place and I think we've definitely went our separate ways. I love her and I want her to be awesome, but there are things that remind me of her."
Bieber isn't sure if there's still hope for them to get back together. "I don't know what happens. I don't know what is going to happen in the future," he said. "I think we both gotta do some soul searching ourselves and figure out ourselves before we can just try to figure out each other."
