According to Hollywood Life, a source close to Bieber said that he is contemplating asking Gomez's hand for marriage. Moreover, another insider said that Gomez made it clear to Bieber that she wanted to take things slow. The insider told the site that Gomez wanted to wait until the initial passionate stage of their new relationship fades before settling down.

The source added that Gomez also wanted to make sure that the changes Bieber exhibits (aka acting mature and being the perfect boyfriend) are permanent and not something that Bieber only showed to win her back. The source pointed out that Gomez still has trust issues from their past that needs to be resolved.

Not long after Hollywood Life published the article, Gossip Cop said that the proposal news is fake. Gossip Cop is a website that fact-checks reports about celebrities. According to Gossip Cop, Hollywood Life had been manufacturing stories for years of a possible engagement between the two — all of which, are made-up. Gossip Cop also said that the Bieber and Gomez were not the biggest fans of the site. In fact, Bieber urged his Instagram followers to shut Hollywood Life down on June 15, 2016, in an Instagram post captioned, "Let's spam and petition to shut this garbage website down."

Gossip Cop then said that Hollywood Life had begun manufacturing the proposal narrative since 2013 when it published an article alleging Bieber asked designer Neil Lane to design an engagement ring for Gomez worth $1 million. Gossip Cop made note of all the articles published by Hollywood Life about the two.

The fact-check site highlighted the two articles published last November and December where Hollywood Life said that the two were planning to elope and were secretly getting married respectively.

Bieber and Gomez have yet to comment on this latest issue about their relationship.
