Justin Bieber gets compared to Christian artist Bob Dylan
Christian Canadian crooner Justin Bieber has been known to switch his image and musical styles time and time again, and this is why his manager Scooter Braun believes that he is just like Bob Dylan, a fellow Christian musician.
In a recent interview with Billboard, Braun said Bieber has produced albums that are purely pop, then dabbled into R&B, ballads, and just recently, electronic dance music.
"It's like Bob Dylan: He pissed people off, but whenever he switched, he reinvented himself in a way that made him who he is today," he said.
But his statement appeared to have upset a lot of people, prompting Braun to take to Twitter to say that his quote seemed to have been taken out of context.
"And for those twisting what I said about one of the greats, Bob Dylan...the comparison I made was regarding the risk Bob Dylan took by going outside of his career's comfort zone and not being afraid of that change," he explained. "Dylan's greatness and boldness in going electric is an example of how going against the grain can become one of your biggest and defining moments."
Braun further went on to say that people, especially artists, should not be afraid to be booed if they are doing what they love. In time, history will show that the world will not only come to understand but even appreciate their courage.
When Braun was asked if he was scared Bieber would be booed at the Ultra Music Festival, Bieber's manager compared his risk to the one Dylan took when he went electric at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.
"We learned from greats not to be afraid of stepping out of your fans' comfort zone and pushing forward," he said.
