Justin Bieber's mom Pattie Mallette speaks about her famous son's faith at worship conference

It might be hard for some to believe that pop superstar Justin Bieber is a deeply religious person. His mother Pattie Mallette, however, recently opened up about her son's path to faith and how it started early in his life.

Speaking at a recent Light the Fire Again conference in Toronto, Mallette shared that her only child was initiated in the Christian faith while she was still carrying him in her womb.

Following a troubled young life, Mallette decided to become an active member of the community led by pastors John Arnott and his wife Carol in Canada. As a soon-to-be single mother, Mallette made a choice to dedicate her life and that of her unborn son to Jesus.

So when Bieber was born, Mallette regularly took him to church and the yearly Toronto Blessing and Light the Fire Again meetings. And before her son became a global singing sensation, he became involved in a church youth group.

"There was like 5,000 people here," Mallette said. "And they picked [Justin] up as a sign to upholding the next generation," she added. "And they marched him around the room and they had no idea what God was going to do."

Mallette's church leader also spoke about Bieber during the conference and how the "Sorry" singer has been sharing his faith in Jesus with his millions of followers.

Bieber has become more vocal about his faith in recent years, especially on Instagram, where he has nearly a hundred million followers. In the last few months, he led his social media followers to sing a worship song and shared a post telling his fans that the real meaning of Easter was Jesus and not the Easter Bunny. He also shared a photo of himself standing next to a wooden cross.
