"Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" had been hailed as one of the best anime series in recent years, but season 2 is currently rumored to be delayed as the studio and the director behind it are also in the same crew behind "Attack on Titan," which is currently in development for its second season.

Tetsuro Araki, who served as director for "Attack on Titan," is also the director for "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress." He is quite popular with anime fans for directing series such as "Death Note," "High School of the Dead," and "Guilty Crown." He also worked on series such as "Sword Art Online" and "Galaxy Angels."

Given that he is directing both projects and that "Attack on Titan" season 2 is currently the one in production, it is possible that this will delay "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" season 2 until the former is finished and is officially released in Spring 2017.

A report from The Bitbag points out that "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" was a pet project for Wit Studio and that it came as a big surprise when they discovered how successful season 1 had become. Despite this, it is noted that it would be too difficult for Araki and the rest of the small studio to work on both series simultaneously.

The official release date has not been announced for "Attack on Titan" season 2, but it is confirmed to premiere by Spring 2017. This would mean "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" season 2 won't be launching until after that period, and this has lead fans to speculate that it will not roll out until the latter half of 2017 or in early 2018.

It is important to note that Wit Studio and Araki have yet to make any official announcements regarding the launch of "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" season 2. As such, reports suggesting the show's release date should be taken with a grain of salt.
