Kangaroo Mobile Desktop Pro news: Upgraded model gives more ports and HDD bay
The Kangaroo Mobile Desktop Pro is yet another pocket-sized PC. However, this one is slightly bigger than its predecessor, since it comes with its own docking port, thereby adding more ports. One can also install a hard drive on its docking port.
InFocus recently upgraded their smartphone-sized Kangaroo Mobile Desktop to the Pro model. Several new features were added, which include more ways to connect to a display screen via its VGA and HDMI ports, two USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.0 port, an Ethernet port and a headphone jack. The company also took into consideration users wanting to have more storage space, aside from the 200GB-capable microSD slot -- it can now be equipped with a 2.5-inch hard drive of up to 2TB .
The newer model still houses components similar to its predecessor. It comes with the 1.4 4 Ghz Intel Atom x5-Z8500, capable of 2.24 Ghz on Turbo Boost mode paired with an Intel HD Graphics Gen8 and 2 GB LPDDR3 RAM. It also comes with 32GB internal storage and comes pre-loaded with a Windows 10 64-bit Home edition.
Wireless connection is also possible with its Wi-Fi 802.11 A/C (dual band) adapter and Bluetooth 4.0. For added security, it comes with a built-in fingerprint reader. A 2,200 mAh lithium-ion internal battery is also included on the computing module that can provide up to 4 hours of casual use.
The computing module comes in at 80.5 mm x 124 mm x 13 mm , while the dock is slightly bigger, at 86 mm x 171 mm x 32.2 mm.
The Kangaroo Mobile Desktop Pro can replace one's desktop computer for US$199, and can be shipped within three business days. It can now be used with the full arsenal of wired mouse and keyboard plus any preferred screen, which makes it a full-fledged desktop PC. It can also be connected to a projector that uses the same connection as older display screens. This is perfect for home and office use that requires only basic word processing or accounting programs, plus Internet surfing, casual gaming and movie watching. However, this is not suitable for power- and graphics-intensive applications.
