After rumors about Kate Middleton's alleged pregnancy finally died down, the Clarence House has officially revealed that she and her husband Prince William will visit India for a royal duty in the coming year.

"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit India in the spring of 2016," the official press release revealed. "The visit is being undertaken at the request of Her Majesty's Government and will be the first time The Duke and Duchess have visited the country."

The announcement was made during the official visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Buckingham Palace on Friday, Nov. 13.

The said trip will be the first visit of both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to the former British colony. While the country became an independent state in 1947, it remains to be part of the British Commonwealth.

While Kate will be on royal duties with her husband during the trip, it does not mean that the couple will have no time to visit the bench in front of India's iconic Taj Mahal temple where William's mother posed for a photograph during her trip with her then-husband Prince Charles in 1992.

The said photo first ignited rumors about the troubled relationship between the Prince and Princess of Wales since the Diana was mostly alone during the said trip. Ironically, the Taj Mahal is known worldwide as a symbol of love.

The trip to India will be the first out-of-the-country trip of the royal couple after Kate gave birth to her second child, Princess Charlotte, back in May. Their last international travel was in December 2014, when the couple visited the United States.

At the moment, there is no word yet regarding the possibility of taking Princess Charlotte and her older brother Prince George with them during the official Indian trip.
