Justin Verlander weds Kate Upton in Italy

Supermodel Kate Upton and Houston Astros player Justin Verlander tied the knot in Italy on Saturday, Nov. 4, just a few days after the groom won the World Series.

The 25-year-old Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model and the 34-year-old pitcher exchanged their vows at the luxurious Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco resort in the province of Siena in Tuscany, in front of family and close friends.

Sources told E! News that the ceremony took place at an old medieval church atop a hill, which is surrounded by ancient ruins and overlooks the Montalcino valley and vineyards. Insiders add that the staircase was lined with hurricane candles and the whole place was adorned with deep red and blush flowers as well as olive branches.

Upton, who previously said her then future husband was allergic to flowers, carried a rustic bouquet as she took to the isle. "I want a lot of flowers. And I know I want the petals already down by the time my niece, who will be my flower girl, walks down the aisle," she told Martha Stewart Weddings in an interview back in May. She also added that Verlander would have to take an allergy pill.

The couple dated for three years on-and-off until 2014, when they stayed together for good. In May 2016, "The Other Woman" actress debuted her engagement ring at the Met Gala in New York City. Talking to the media on that night, she said Verlander proposed before the start of the Major League season, but they decided to keep it to themselves for a while.

Just a few days before their wedding, the Houston Astros made history by winning their first World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers after a tough seven-game finals. Upton posted about her man's big day on Instagram, saying "What a series!!! What a month!!" It definitely is a great month for the couple who are now on their way to forever.
