Katy Perry AMA 2013 performance video of "Unconditionally"; Singer wears Kimono for Japanese-themed performance

Katy Perry opened the 2013 American Music Awards show tonight with a performance of her latest single "Unconditionally" from her album "Prism." The singer wore a Kimono for her performance, which was Japanese-themed.

Last month, Perry performed at the MTV Europe Music Awards and appeared to be floating above the stage. Prior to that, she closed the 2013 MTV VMAs in August with a performance of "Roar" under the iconic Brooklyn bridge.

Perry rose to fame with her single "I Kissed a Girl" from her second studio album "One of the Boys" in 2008.

The 28-year-old became the first female artist in history to produce five number-one hits from her third studio album in 2010 titled "Teenage Dream." "California Gurls,""Teenage Dream," "Firework," E.T.," and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) all hit topped the Billboard 100 chart. In 2012, Perry reissued the abum as "Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection" which included another number one single, "Part of Me."

Perry's fourth album, "Prism" includes collaborations with Sia Furler, Dr. Luke, Max Martin, and Bonnie McKee. In addition to "Roar," other songs set to feature in the album are "Double Rainbow," "Bad Photographs," "It Takes Two," "Unconditional," "Dark Horse," and "Walking on Air."

Perry has received nine Grammy nominations for her music. Her single "Fireworks" won the Video of the Year category at the 2011 MTV VMAs. She was also named Woman of the Year by at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.

Katy Perry did not receive any nominations for the American Music Awards this year.
