Fans are still left hanging as definitive news about the Kendrick Lamar–J. Cole collaboration album remains scarce.

Rappers J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar have been working on releasing a collaboration album for quite some time now. J. Cole reportedly dropped hints several months back that something would be coming out in February, but nothing surfaced, and now, Dreamville president Ibrahim Hamad has made a statement regarding the delay.

"I will say that when even when he said that we kinda knew that was a stretch. Cole is Cole and he knows what he's doing. He has his ways of getting things done and I think that at the end of it all, it'll be way worth it," Hamad told Rap Radar. He then added, "He's kinda like a mad scientist with his thing. He's like a little mad scientist."

Uproxx pointed out that this is not really a proper answer, and Hamad did not entirely point out if this was in reference to the collaboration album, to J. Cole's fourth studio album or a different project entirely. All that Hamad confirmed was that fans had to wait to see whatever it was J. Cole promised back in February.

It was also pointed out that delays have been caused by the two rappers' solo careers. Lamar is reportedly set to be featured on Mac Miller's album, "The Divine Feminine," which launches Sept. 16, and J. Cole is reportedly busy with his upcoming performance during the Life is Beautiful Festival from Sept. 23 to 26.

Lamar, who has launched a new album earlier in the year, also has his tour occupying his time. Meanwhile, J. Cole is still working on a new studio album given that his last album was released back in 2014. Ibrahim Hamad's statements, however, all indicate that the collaboration is merely delayed but not entirely cancelled.

Neither J. Cole nor Kendrick Lamar has made any official statement regarding the matter.
