Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge are on board to star on the pilot of Showtime drama "City on a Hill."

The drama follows a fictional account of a real event in Boston called the "Boston Miracle." This was a time in the late 1990s when the city experienced an unprecedented drop of violent crimes, with over two years of zero teen victims of homicide. This was hugely credited to the unique cooperation between professionals, from police to lawyers, and the youth.

Hodge will play District Attorney Decourcy Ward, the core of the miraculous change in the city. His character will form an unlikely alliance with corrupt yet venerated FBI veteran Jackie Rhodes (Bacon) to rid the city of crimes. According to Deadline, the pilot will see the two take on a group of armored car robbers from Charlestown in their first journey to overhauling Boston's corrupt justice system.

In the official announcement, Showtime Networks President and CEO David Nevins called Bacon an actor who "radiates intelligence and mystery" with all the roles he plays. "He is a gifted, mesmerizing actor who will be the perfect partner and foil to Aldis Hodge, one of Hollywood's rising talent," Nevins added.

The one-hour drama will be written by Chuck MacLean, based on an original idea by him and Ben Affleck. It will be executive produced by Affleck, Matt Damon and Jennifer Todd ("Jason Bourne") through Pearl Street, as well as Michael Cuesta and James Mangold. Bacon will also co-executive produce.

Cuesta, who helmed the 2017 film "American Assassin," is also directing the series. He is replacing Gavin O'Connor, who had to let go of this project after he agreed to direct "Suicide Squad 2."

Bacon previously starred in the comedy series "I Love Dick," which has yet to announce a second season. Hodge plays a recurring role as Jordan/Akinbode in "TURN: Washington's Spies" and is currently filming a lead role for the Tom Shadyac feature "The Brian Banks Story."
