Kevin Durant NBA news 2015: Oklahoma City Thunder star player ready to play?

Is Kevin Durant finally good to go?

For now the OKC Thunder and former NBA MVP will have to be content being in attendance for the time-being.

Mentally, Durant seems to feel that he is ready to participate in drills and scrimmages but at this point, it may be foolish to take risks. So with that said, simply being on the floor and not playing could be a familiar fixture for Durant who can probably be up and ready by the time the 2015-16 NBA season opens shop.

The Thunder will be hosting the San Antonio Spurs on opening night and presumably, Durant will be healthy to make his long-awaited comeback.

Durant sat out most of the 2014-15 NBA season due to a foot injury. He underwent three surgeries to address the injury which was first spotted in October, 2014.

On playing, he admits that it should not be surprising to see him off-key. In an interview with ESPN, Durant admits that having not played for a long-time may need some break-in on before he is able to get back into the groove of things.

Team USA is currently together to develop bonding rather than actual training. Hence, it somehow explains why USA Basketball director Jerry Colangelo made it a requirement for interested NBA players to be on hand at minicamp even if they are not fit to play.

Aside from Durant, Kevin Love will also be around as well as teammate LeBron James who may be there for just a day. James is unable to commit to camp due to a personal event which was scheduled earlier than the ongoing minicamp.

For Durant, the coming season should be interesting. It will see how the former MVP will fit into the system of new coach Billy Donovan and how fully recovered he is from his foot injury.

Even more interesting is the 2016 free agency period which he will star in. There is no word yet on what Durant's plan is though he is being linked to other teams such as the Washington Wizards.

His decision may very well hinge on how he plays and gets along with Donovan over in OKC for the coming season.
