Kia has announced that a new electric vehicle (EV) concept will be introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next week. It will be equipped with advanced technologies that showcase the South Korean automaker's vision for the future of mobility.

Kia has not officially revealed the upcoming all-electric concept vehicle's identity, however, photos accompanying the automaker's announcement seemingly confirm that it will be the Niro EV. A teaser image of the upcoming vehicle's rear spells out the nameplate in bright, glowing letters. Although, even without the LED badging at the rear, the all-electric concept vehicle's styling cues are consistent with the Niro's design language — from the shape of the rear hatch to the distinct front fenders.

On the other hand, the Niro EV also receives some updates to accommodate its electric powertrain such as a revised grille with a charging port, an updated bumper and repositioned fog lamps.

According to the automaker, the EV concept will feature a highly efficient battery-electric powertrain, a never-before-seen human machine interface (HMI) and a new "motion graphic" lighting system.

Aside from the Niro EV, Kia's "Beyond Autonomous Driving" exhibit at CES 2018 will showcase advanced technologies that reflect the direction that the automaker is taking with regard to autonomy and mobility.

Kia will display three different cockpit designs that show how their technologies can be adapted by future vehicles. The interactive exhibits will feature enhanced communication between vehicles and its occupants as well as driver-assistance technologies, innovative HMI functions and the first in-car 5G internet connection.

"Virtual reality, self-driving cars and full vehicle connectivity were all once considered technologies of the distant future. As they rapidly become a reality, Kia is exploring how to adapt these new technologies for its customers," said Dr. Woong-cheol Yang, vice chairman and head of Hyundai-Kia R&D Center.

The Niro EV will be unveiled during Kia's press conference at CES 2018 on Monday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. EST.
