The torrenting community has had quite a devastating year as authorities have been upping their efforts to shut down torrent sites for the past couple of months. Among the biggest torrenting sites that have fallen so far are Kickass Torrents and the torrent search engine Torrentz.

Despite the fact that several lawsuits against both sites and several others have been brought up, it seems like Kickass Torrents, in particular, is not going down that easily as new reports have revealed that they are actually now back online.

When both Torrentz and Kickass Torrents were shut down, thousands of torrent users were forced to share their files elsewhere. There was, of course, a surge of users on other torrent sites, but the community that had gotten used to using Kickass Torrents were still very unhappy about the shutdown.

According to reports, it was the same community that apparently helped the website get back on its feet. Several Kickass Torrents members apparently were able to access the website's mirror locations and, consequently, its large database. As of the moment, the database of movies, music, documents, installers, and other files can still be accessed, but only through a mirror link.

While the site is reportedly still struggling to get back into full operation, there are now reports that authorities are actually cracking down on other popular torrenting website, with their eye now reportedly on The Pirate Bay. The Pirate Bay has, for the most part, dealt with their own fair share of attacks and shut down threats, but up to this day have eluded being completely shut down.

Following the closure of several sites, there has also been a rise of new alternative torrent sites just recently which includes TPBClean and Torrentz.ht, both of which are now coming into prominence. With that in mind, it looks like it will still be a long way off until torrenting can be eradicated, for as long as a the torrenting community exists, there will always be new sites that will be created.
