Following the takedown on Kickass Torrents with allege owner Artem Vaulin arrested, a group of moderators of the original site are asking the help of fans to rebuild the fallen torrent tank.

The group first set up a new forum at Katcr.co, which quickly expanded with Kickass Torrents users joining it. Now, the moderators plan to get bigger by bringing Kickass Torrents to loyalists once more.

However, it will need money to do the rebuilding so the group turned to Gofundme and started a fundraising campaign for the new goal.

"This site we now inhabit is costing money: Money that a few individuals put up to ensure the survival of this Community. This is still not the Kat we all remember but on a daily basis it is getting closer," a user by the name Johnno23 wrote.

However, the Gofundme page has been removed. Ubergizmo believes that it was too public that the authorities learned about it and had it shut down.

It is also possible that the nature of the campaign may have violated Gofundme policies. Either way, it looks like the moderators will have to find another way to bring Kickass Torrents to life.

Speaking to Torrent Freak, one of the long-time and top Kickass Torrents admin Mr. Gooner outlined their plan about the fallen site as well as what to expect and what not to.

"At this stage, it very much depends on pending legal action and rulings in regards to the legality of torrents in the US. However the community can be reassured that in one way or another, KAT will return to its former glory," he said.

Mr. Gooner also said that restoring the original site itself along with the original database is simply not possible at the moment. This is why the current site Katcr.co will have to be coded anew, which will take time.

Money will have to be needed for this undertaking and with the Gofundme page, it appears that the moderators will have to take a new approach.
