It seems "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" came in quite undercooked after all, as the executive developer of the game has stated that they lacked time to polish the game.

This much was stated by executive producer Martin Klima, who admitted that he does not consider "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" to be an AAA title but neither does he consider it a traditional indie game. Hence, he does wish that the publishers and developers had more time to make the game a lot more refined than what it was at the time of release, implying that the development time for the game was not quite enough.

"KCD is an attempt of bridging the two: it is an indie game at heart — more hardcore, more demanding, more fierce —but with the visuals and production values of AAA game. I freely admit though that I wish we had more time to polish the game before the release, that's what AAA game deserves," stated Klima. This means that they did have plans to turn "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" into an AAA game or at least match the qualities seen in the said category.

It is worth noting that "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" is actually a fully priced game worth $60, which is the standard price of a AAA game, though Klima makes it clear that he does not want comparisons between "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" and AAA games. This is because he believes that AAA games industries pander to "casual and absent-minded" players and makes such games too, hence he does not want "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" placed in the game category.

With this in mind, Klima thinks "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" is so much more than most AAA games despite not having the same budget. Still, he also admitted that him and the developers and publishers did commit some costly mistakes for the game, particularly a lot of features and ideas which had to be abandoned despite resources being spent on them.

That they were still able to come up with a competent semi-indie, semi-AAA title was in itself, an achievement to him.
