'Kingdom Hearts 3' release date, character news: Game to feature 'Star Wars'? more details at D23 Expo?

Game company Square Enix is said to bring special guests and surprises to Disney's upcoming D23 Expo. Set to take place from Aug. 14 to 16 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, the event is expected to showcase "Kingdom Hearts 3," the latest iteration of the popular role-playing franchise.

The Mouse House announced that there will be "never-before-seen gameplay, trailers, new reveals and surprises" during the event.  Other games to see include "Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition" and "Star Wars: Battlefront."

As IGN pointed out, "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be the only one to be featured that, as far as fans currently know, isn't related to "Star Wars." But does the latter have something to do with Sora's new adventure, prompting the game's inclusion in the seemingly all-Star Wars event?

The aforementioned publication is convinced that "Kingdom Hearts 3" might feature a slice of the Star Wars universe. For months now, there have been persistent rumors that Darth Vader or anyone from the massive intergalactic realm will be in the game, and this doesn't look as unlikely as it was before.

Meanwhile, Segment Next has information about what "Kingdom Hearts 3" could feature in terms of gameplay, quoting Square Enix producer Tetsuya Nomura saying QTE or Quick Time Event (actions executed at the touch of a button when it displays on screen) "isn't there anymore."

In other D23 Expo-related news, media outlets have reason to believe that "Star Wars: Battlefront" will be playable in the upcoming event. In the announcement, Disney said that guests "can live out some of their Star Wars battle fantasies by going hands-on" with the game. All this will be confirmed in one month's time.

"Kingdom Hearts 3" has yet to get a release date but is expected to be launched next year.
