During E3 2013, after rumors spread in all directions, "Kingdom Hearts III" was confirmed to be in development. Earlier this month, Bill Farmer, who contributed his voice talents for the character Goofy, made a comment, believing that the game would be released this year as he had already completed his voice acting for the entire game. However, developer Square Enix stated that "Kingdom Hearts III" is not going to be released in 2015, leading to more quandaries.

The game developer tweeted: "There was a Goof! The release date for @KINGDOMHEARTS III remains unannounced."

"Kingdom Hearts III" is currently being developed by Square Enix ("Hitman Absolution" and "Sleeping Dogs") and will be published by Disney Interactive Studios. Previous installments of the "Kingdom Hearts" franchise were only available for the PlayStation and Nintendo platforms, but now "Kingdom Hearts III" will be the first title belonging to the franchise that will be present on Microsoft's Xbox One console. Chronologically, it's the eighth installment in the "Kingdom Hearts" series.

The game's plot will revolve around Sora once more, and will once again be maintained as the main protagonist of the game. It will also bring back Riku, Donald Duck, Goofy, and King Mickey, along with additional characters belonging to Disney.

The plot will be continuing from "Dream Drop Distance," where Sora, Donald and Goofy search and attempt to find seven guardians of light and the "Key to Return Hearts." Side by side, King Mickey and Riku look for previous Keyblade wielders in an attempt to stop Master Xehanort's plan to balance the light and darkness.

While Square Enix has not yet confirmed the news, it is being rumored that Sora and Master Xehanor will have a final showdown in the "KIngdom Hearts III."
