'Kingdom Hearts 3' release date: game won't be getting a staggered launch

"Kingdom Hearts 3" has no official release date set yet, but gamers in Japan are expected to get it first. Fans outside the country, however, won't wait that long for the game to hit their shores.

In an interview with Gematsu, "Kingdom Hearts 3" director Tetsuya Nomura revealed that the highly anticipated game will be released "slightly" earlier in Japan.

But other countries will still feel like it is a simultaneous worldwide release as it won't take a while for "Kingdom Hearts 3" to sweep through the rest of the world.

That being said, fans will not have to worry about any staggered release for "Kingdom Hearts 3," an issue with "Kingdom Hearts" titles before it.

Fans will remember that the direct predecessor of "Kingdom Hearts 3" took three months to reach North America and took even longer on its way to Europe and Australia.

It appears that developer Square Enix will rectify these long waiting times for gamers all over the world for "Kingdom Hearts 3," which fans have been looking forward to for more than a decade.

As for when the launch will actually take place, rumor has it that "Kingdom Hearts 3" could be out and about as early as March or April next year.

"Kingdom Hearts 3" is not included in the list of titles that Square Enix will release for its current financial year, which runs up to the end of March 2017.

To get by the wait, gamers are urged to pick up "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue," which equips players with the knowledge needed going to "Kingdom Hearts 3."

"Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" will be released this December, and should be big enough to keep players busy until "Kingdom Hearts 3" is released, presumably during the first quarter of 2017.

More details about the much-awaited game is expected to drop this winter.
