Although "Kingdom Hearts 3" is already confirmed for release, it remains unclear if the new sequel will become a PlayStation 4 exclusive since recent rumors suggest that a PC version is also in the works.

According to Segment Next, the next "Kingdom Hearts" franchise installment may launch for the PC since publisher Square Enix is currently shifting from console-exclusive titles to multi-platform releases. It is also hinted that aside from "Kingdom Hearts 3," Square Enix may also publish a compendium package for past "Kingdom Hearts" games for the PC, in order to familiarize PC players with the franchise.

It is said that "Kingdom Hearts 3" will launch for the Xbox One, though these rumors were muddled recently when the title was allegedly scraped from the Xbox Japan games list.

However, "Kingdom Hearts 3," is now confirmed to be back on the Xbox Japan games list. This debunks the rumors claiming that the game will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4. With the Xbox Play Anywhere feature, it is highly likely that even if "Kingdom Hearts 3" will not launch for the PC, Xbox One owners may still hope to play the game on the Windows 10 platform.

Aside from the Xbox One, it is also rumored that "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be ported to the upcoming Nintendo NX system. Nintendo has yet to confirm speculations, but the game has already been listed as an NX game in a third-party retailer's website.

It seems fans will have to exercise their patience since they would have to wait a while before the game goes live. Square Enix has yet to release a statement regarding the launch of "Kingdom Hearts 3." Its absence from big-name industry trade shows like the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo and from the lineup of the upcoming 2016 Tokyo Game Show may hint that it would be unlikely for the title to roll out in the near future.
