'King's Game' news: First season received mixed reviews from fans and critics; status of season 2 still unknown

Futabasha's anime television series "King's Game The Animation" received mixed reviews from fans and critics after season 1 ended on Nov. 30. There are still no confirmation from the writers of the series or producers of the anime about a season 2.

"King's Game" or "Osama Games" is a Japanese cell phone novel that was published from 2010 to 2012 by author Nobuaki Kanazawa.

The first season of the anime received a score of 5.5 out of 10 from MyAnimeList. According to some comments posted on MyAnimeList, the series failed to fully execute and maximize the anime. Some people recommended the anime, while others urged people not to watch the anime. There are a few comments about the anime having a distinct connection to real life.

The genre of the anime is the combination of mystery, supernatural, school life, and horror. There are still no updates from the anime's producers if the show has been canceled or renewed.

The plot of the anime centers on "The King's Game" and the main character of the series, a high school student named, Nobuaki Kanazawa. The lead character is named after the author of the manga series.

The story of the series follows Kanazawa as he tries to stop the manipulation of the game that requires students to obey the "King's" order to avoid death punishment.

The first season had a total of nine episodes with the premiere episode released on Oct. 5 and the finale on the last day of November. According to Inquisitr, the future of the anime is still unknown. The report also indicates that the anime remains popular in the online anime streaming website CrunchyRoll despite the negative reviews.

Back in 2011, a live action movie adaptation of the manga series was released. "Osama Game" or "King's Game" hit theaters on Dec. 17, 2011. The movie also got mixed reviews with and a 5.7 out of 10 score from IMDb.
