At the San Diego Comic-Con, movie buffs who also love the popular game "Final Fantasy XV" were treated to some great news. Square Enix, the company that's behind the gripping game, announced the release of the movie "Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV." An extended trailer of the film was showcased at the convention, and three release dates, one for each version, were announced.

Eurogamer lists out these dates along with the releases that are set to happen on each of them. A digital release is scheduled for the 30^th of August this year, followed by a Blu-ray and DVD release on the 4^th of October. But way ahead of these two dates is a special screening of the movie in select cinemas in the U.S., set for the 19^th of August.

The stellar voice cast includes Sean Bean, Lena Headey, and Aaron Paul.

Set in the fantasy world of Eos, as Tech Times reports, the movie is a companion to the upcoming game which will be available from the 30^th of September. Forbes reports that the Japanese theatrical release of the animated movie, which happened on the 9^th of July, was well received. It does seem a bit odd that the Blu-ray version is scheduled to launch in the U.S. after the game itself has made it to the shelves. Nevertheless, if the special release and the digital version do well, the game is bound to sell out rapidly.

The gameplay revolves around the rivalry between the empire of Niflheim and the kingdom of Lucis. The central character in the game is Noctis, son of King Regis, who's the ruler of Lucis. The plot involves Noctis leaving home just when a peace deal is about to be signed between the two rival kings. But Niflheim invades Lucis, and the gamers' purpose is to aid Noctis in winning his homeland back. The movie is reportedly told from King Regis's perspective.
