The History Channel will air the premiere episode of its historical fiction television series "Knightfall" on Dec. 6. The series is one of the most-anticipated historical drama shows to hit 2017, according to critics and fans.

There have been several speculations that the series will air on a Friday the 13^th date. However, History announced that the series will debut on Dec. 6 at 10 p.m. EDT on its channel. There is not much detailed information about the first episode of "Knightfall" titled "You'd Know What to Do."

The story of "Knightfall" centers on the military order established during the Middle Ages, the Knights Templar. The series will narrate the story of the Knights Templar as they search for the Holy Grail in France until their deaths in the hands of Philip IV of France (Ed Stoppard) on Oct. 13, 1307.

According to History's statement about the upcoming series, "Knightfall goes deep into the clandestine world of this legendary brotherhood of warrior monks. From their battles in the Holy Land, to their complex relationship with the King of France."

Welsh actor Tom Cullen will portray Sir Landry, the leader of the Knights Templar. History Channel already released two trailers for the series that highlight the adventure of the Knights in search for the Holy Grail. The series begins in ancient Paris in 1306, just a year before the downfall of the Knights Templar.

Cullen and Stoppard are joined by a big ensemble of actors and actresses. Joining the cast are Sam Hazeldine as Godfrey, Simon Merrells as Tancrede, Padraic Delaney as Gawain, Olivia Ross as Queen Joan, Sabrina Bartlett as Princess Isabella, and more. The character of Pope Boniface VIII will be portrayed by Jim Carter.

The "Knightfall" will release 10 episodes from Dec. 6 until February 2018. Jeremy Renner will serve as the show's executive producer, along with Jeff Pinkner, Andre Nemec, Don Handfield, and Dominic Minghella.
