A reunion will happen next season as veteran forward Paul Pierce agreed to join the Los Angeles Clippers under coach Doc Rivers.

Rivers was Pierce's coach for nine seasons with the Boston Celtics, and they have won a championship together in 2008 during the first year of the big three era which included Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett.

According to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, the 37-year-old veteran agreed to a three-year, $10.6 million deal which was a taxpayer minimum offer.

The reunion of Pierce and Rivers will be huge for the Clippers, who reached the second-round of the playoffs last season and have All-Stars Blake Griffin and Chris Paul.

Meanwhile, Pierce has been in three teams in the past three offseasons since being traded to the Brooklyn Nets before the 2013-14 season.

Last season, he spent time with the Washington Wizards, where his veteran presence was felt, especially during the team's playoff run.

Pierce was averaging 11.9 points, four rebounds and two assists last season and shined for Washington during the playoffs. The 10-time NBA All-Star improved his offensive performance during the postseason as he averaged 14.6 points.

Pierce led the Wizards past the higher-seeded Toronto Raptors in the first round and showed that he could still hit big clutch shots in the conference semi-finals against the Atlanta Hawks.

Unfortunately, the Hawks were too much for them, as they eliminated the Wizards in six games, only to lose to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

After the season, Pierce said he was unsure if he would be retuning for another year. "I don't even know if I am going to play basketball anymore. These seasons get harder and harder every year, every day. Summers get even harder when you start getting back in shape. I'm 37 years old. I'm top two or three oldest in the league," Pierce said, according to ESPN.

But it seems like a reunion with Rivers is hard to resist, as Pierce will head to Los Angeles and become part of the Clippers.
