LA Lakers NBA 2015 news: How much is Rajon Rondo worth?

Can Rajon Rondo be a good fit for the Los Angeles Lakers?

With Rondo expected to be one of the many names available in the free agent market, the Los Angeles Lakers are perhaps the only team that are closely tied up with the disgruntled NBA star.

After spending most of his career in Boston, Rondo found himself playing for the Dallas Mavericks midway the 2014-15 NBA season. And everyone knows the celebrate disagreements he has had with head coach Rick Carlisle and his imminent departure was a foregone conclusion.

Rondo heading to the Lakers came out as early as December when he and Kobe Bryant met up. While the idea seems to be good, it remains that the Lakers could be thinking twice on signing up the NBA vet, especially when it comes to salary negotiations.

Rondo's performance has dipped severely as the former star guard of the Celtics has struggled ever since coming back from injury. He did show some flashes of his old self but after his rift with coach Carlisle, Rondo had been technically kept in the freezer.

Rondo could pair up well with Kobe in Los Angeles though there is no guarantee that their tandem could rekindle the glory days of the Lakers. Then again, it could depend on who else the Lakers could land to combine with Rondo and Bryant.

All that aside, it all boils down to what Rondo is looking and how much he would be asking. With no takers at the moment, it would seem ridiculous to think that Rondo would be asking for the stars.

What if Rondo asks for his average pay of $8 million a year? Would that be considered overpricing himself?

At 29, Rondo can still recover but his dark stint with the Mavs could be a problem that may make the Lakers think twice. If Rondo asks for more than that $8 million annual paycheck, chances are the Lakers will fold and look for someone else.

If that happens, where does that leave 21st draft pick of 2006?
