LA Lakers news 2015: Team bombs out of LaMarcus Aldridge sweepstakes

The Los Angeles Lakers just kissed any hope of probably landing LaMarcus Aldridge after their meeting with the free agent.

Aldridge, who was reportedly interested at the start, simply did not find what he was looking for - the team vision.

As expected, the money and the fame were there but these were mere perks whenever one considers signing with the Lakers. When the part about basketball came up, the Lakers practically blew it.

Kobe Bryant was there to single out how he envisioned Aldridge to work with him in the same way Pau Gasol did. But that was ages ago, and with an aging Kobe, it seems to somehow indicate that Aldridge would be merely playing second fiddle to the Black Mamba.

Aldridge was hoping to hear something about the Lakers' plans of resurrecting themselves from the grave and creating a path towards another NBA title. Based on the reports, it seemed like it never even reached that point.

After today's trips, the Lakers are no longer the top team for Aldridge. The San Antonio Spurs and the Phoenix Suns have now overtaken them.

The Spurs had a pretty impressive presentation for Aldridge, something that reportedly blew away Aldridge and his camp. With Tim Duncan and Tony Parker helping out Popovich, the meeting ended on a very high note.

The Suns, on the other hand, threw in an unlikely monkey wrench in the person of Tyson Chandler, whom they recently signed up. Chandler could provide Aldridge with some serious help in the frontline should he decide to join the team.

Recall that Aldridge got a load off with Blazers teammate Robin Lopez to watch his back, so what the more with a proven shot blocker in Chandler?

The Blazers will still try to make a go at Aldridge but seeing their team falling apart, it could be hard to focus on plain big money. Aldridge wants money, but he also wants to be a winner. He needs personnel support and apparently, the Spurs and the Suns have offered him just that.
