The extent of damage that Lamar Odom's recent near-death experience remains unknown, but as told by doctors, there will be a lot of vital organs affected.

The only thing out in the open right now is that the former National Basketball Association (NBA) player may require a kidney transplant, the only organ that was identified to be critical earlier on when Odom received immediate medical attention.

Before Odom became responsive, it will be recalled that reports say he was under kidney dialysis three to five hours a day. Now that he has been transported to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, the number of hours he may need for dialysis will be increased to six hours daily. But in the end, a kidney transplant is likely to be needed.

Other than that, it seems that all other organs remain on the mend for now. He is still under close monitoring as he continues his miraculous progress from a 50-50 standpoint initially pegged by attending physicians over in Las Vegas.

The other good sign is that Odom will have his wife Khloe Kardashian by his side. She never left Odom since this unfortunate episode and the latest word out is that the two have requested for the dismissal of their pending divorce case, as reported by the Daily News.   

The series of events should be something that should bring a smile to Odom, seeing how his life almost fell apart and end abruptly after a mild stroke at the Love Ranch in Nevada. It is believed that the deadly mix of cocaine and that herbal-like Viagra were the cause of his stroke at the time.

Odom will have a long road ahead with a series of therapies to get him back to a close-to-normal life. The time issue shouldn't be a problem as he goes through it with his wife, Kardashian.
