Retired professional basketball player Lamar Odom is reportedly recovering well following his collapse at a nightclub in Los Angeles on Sunday.

A representative for Odom told People he is doing fine after the incident. "He was dehydrated and had been in an intense workout earlier in the day. It was also very hot in the club," the representative said.

TMZ earlier reported that the former Los Angeles Lakers fainted around 2 a.m. at a VIP booth of the Bootsy Bellows nightclub. The incident was recorded in a video, which showed Odom down on the coach, surrounded by the club's security. Toward the end of the clip, he was seen sitting up and conscious.

The person who shot the video told TMZ that Odom had been drinking for "several hours" before the incident.

Meanwhile, a source told E! News that Khloe Kardashian's former husband has been resting since Sunday, but planned to celebrate his birthday on Nov. 6 with some family and friends at Sista Mary's Soul Food in Glendale, which he partly owns.

No word yet on whether he was well enough to push through with the celebrations.

This is not the first time the retired National Basketball Association (NBA) star faced a health scare. In 2015, Odom was rushed to the hospital after he was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel, reportedly for cocaine overdose. Brothel staff, however, said he was seen drinking alcohol and taking herbal sexual stimulant, but not illegal drugs.

The near-death experience put the 38-year-old in a coma for four days. During that time, his divorce proceedings with Kardashian was already well underway. However, the latter opted to file a court petition dismissing the divorce in such a way that it could be re-filed at a later date. This was done to help Odom make medical decisions as a legal spouse.

Upon recovery, Odom completed a 30-day rehabilitation program. Kardashian once again filed for divorce in May 2016.
