Lamar Odom latest update: NBA star spends Christmas with children

The past few months have been very challenging for Lamar Odom, but on Christmas Day, the former NBA player happily spent the holidays with his children.

The baller has been working on his recovery at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles after being hospitalized in October. He was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel following an accidental overdose.

A source told Us Weekly that the 36-year-old is doing much better and he spent the day with daughter Destiny, 17, and Lamar Jr., 13.

"He was so happy the kids were there with him for Christmas and they were so happy to be with him," said the source.

The insider added that Destiny and Lamar Jr. brought him gifts and that they gave the former athlete all of his favorite things.

"They had so much fun. It was very emotional and very happy," the source said.

Last month, the Lamar Jr. posted a picture of their celebration on Instagram, which marks the first time that Odom has been photographed since he was hospitalized. Half of the basketball player's face can be seen in the photograph and Lamar Jr. and Destiny are seen standing right behind him.

The photo was captioned, "Christmas with my pops. Here's to 2016. Blessed."

Odom's fans immediately posted comments on Lamar Jr.'s Instagram account, with many saying that the former NBA player "looks great" and they also expressed their wishes for his swift recovery.

It was reported that Odom's estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, was responsible for bringing the three together for the holidays. Kardashian reportedly flew the children to Los Angeles to be with their father.

An insider told E! News (via Daily Mail), "Khloe flew Lamar's kids out to L.A. so they can spend time with him and Khloe came to Houston for a few days while his kids are in LA with him."

Meanwhile, a source told Us Weekly that Odom's condition is improving and that progress is happening "little by little."

The insider said that the 36-year-old was able to take a few steps without a walker and that he is expected to go to rehab "any day now."
