"The Last Ship" just aired its 2-hour season 2 premiere which focused on Chandler and the rest of the crew of the USS Nathan James fighting Granderson and her team of insurgents while also unraveling the secrets of Olympia. Episode 3, "It's Not a Rumor," will focus on the crew heading to Norfolk to start mass producing and distributing the cure.

Most of season 1 focused on developing the cure and vaccine but season 2 will focus on giving those solutions to the rest of the people in the world, ensuring the survival of mankind. At the very end of season 2's premiere, it was revealed that the primordial solution for the cure is still intact and that it can be mass produced.

According to the official episode synopsis, Chandler will also send out the crew for them to search for any surviving relatives or friends. This marks the first time that many of the USS Nathan James regulars will get a chance to see if anyone they know survived the plague. What's the point in having a cure if everyone is already dead?

However, getting this task done won't be as simple as it should be. The promotional trailer for the third episode has been released online and it showcases a group of people immune to the plague residing in a submarine. They appear to have a cult-like organization and want to eradicate the world of regular people, only allowing those with viral immunity to survive in order to make sure that the next generations of humans will be superior in every way, particularly with a genetic advantage of being immune to any kind of plague.

Of course, this means they'll need to stop the USS Nathan James and its crew from spreading the cure around to the regular folk on shore. The promotional trailer depicts a violent sea battle as the USS Nathan James fights the enemy group's submarine.

"The Last Ship" season 2 episode 3 airs on June 28.
