Lt. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) will be the victim that her team will try to save in the upcoming episode of the long-running NBC series "Law & Order: SVU" season 17.

In "Townhouse Incident," TV.com reports that the Special Victims Unit (SVU) will be tapped to save their leader after an unknown man takes her as a hostage. It is unclear if the culprit will forcefully enter Olivia's house or someone else's. The synopsis just states that the unfortunate incident will happen when the lieutenant tries to stop the bad guy from accomplishing his evil deed.

Olivia's terrifying ordeal was teased by series showrunner Warren Leight last December. He told TV Guide that an upcoming episode for the second half of season 17 would show Hargitay's character in a life threatening position. Normally thorough and alert in every case she handles, Olivia will reportedly commit some slip-ups that will inevitably results to the said scenario. Fans of the feisty head of SVU should not worry, though, as she will come out of this harrowing ordeal alive.

"We're going to start out with a moment in which she drops her guard just for a moment and gets herself into a horrible, threatening situation. She'll be dealing with the after-effects of that for a little while," the executive producer said.

Meanwhile, the midseason premiere episode saw the team investigating a planned hook-up between a student and a teacher that has gone horribly wrong. A high school female instructor has been having illicit relationships with her students. When one of her beaus suddenly went missing, the SVU was called to probe what exactly happened.

The promo for the episode showed the teen being kidnapped before he and the teacher were able to engage in an illegal sexual act. The situation became grimmer when Olivia's squad found out that the teacher was not the only predator in school. There was another culprit who preyed on the students and the SVU must launch a manhunt to find him.

"Law & Order: SVU" season 17 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
