After the death of Dodds (Andy Karl) in pursuit of corrupt corrections officer Gary Munson (Brad Garrett) in "Law and Order: SVU" season 17, Rafael Barba (Raul Esparza) isn't keen on following suit.

New rumors about "Law and Order: SVU" season 18 say Barba will track down the people behind the death threats. Fans will remember that he was a target as the unit worked on incriminating Munson.

These threats were even put to action at one point. And since the danger of getting killed on the job is real, Barba is expected to get to the people inclined to kill him before he will be too dead to do so in "Law and Order: SVU" season 18.

Barba, however, isn't one to be scared easily. He is one tough Assistant District Attorney and is the kind who does not back down in a fight. His approach with the power he was bestowed in definitely snagged him enemies.

"Barba's history is that he grew up in the streets and he yanked himself out of a neighborhood where he ran with a lot of tough people. He's used to dealing with things that are frightening to him by not backing down and I think he mouths off a lot,"

"It's just the way he gets through life, and that's going to get you in trouble eventually. And I'm excited by that. I really like it when Barba gets caught in a bit of a mess," Esparza told TV Guide of his character.

Barba was created by Warren Leight, who steps down from his showrunner role in "Law and Order: SVU" season 18. The actor admits that he is a bit worried where his character is now headed.

With the person who knows Barba better than anyone else moving out of the series, fans and even Esparza are left to wonder what his dealings will be in "Law and Order: SVU" season 18. At the same time, the prospect excites Esparza.

"Law and Order: SVU" season 18 premieres later this fall.
