It appears that Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) and Nick Carisi (Peter Scanavino) will have so much more going on between them in the second half of the NBC series "Law & Order: SVU" season 17.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the change in the pair's dynamics started during the winter premiere episode, when they were strolling together with Rollins' new baby. When Carisi picked up and calmed down the fidgety baby, Rollins looked like she was seeing him for the first time. Even executive producer Warren Leight was quick to comment on scene, stating that a different feeling for her colleague was stirring deep inside the female agent.

"Rollins has had one point of view on Carisi for a long time, like the annoying younger brother point of view, and I thought I saw something really interesting in that moment," he shared.

If the showrunners decide to give a love angle for Rollins and Carisi, it will be the first time that two Special Victims Unit (SVU) members will be romantically involved with one another. It will also give fans of the long-running procedural a chance to see the newest addition to the team in a different light. It has not been long since Carisi substituted for Nick Amaro (Danny Pino). He has quickly made himself an important member of the unit, but little else is known about him.

As for Rollins, her love life has recently become an open book. It was revealed in season 15 that she and Amaro had a secret affair. The detective was not the father of her newborn, though. It was Lt. Declan Murphy (Donal Logue). If ever she and Carisi will fall in love, it will be interesting to see how they will be dating under Lt. Olivia Benson's (Mariska Hargitay) eagle eyes.

"Law & Order: SVU" season 17 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
