A leak that went around online over the weekend gave PC users a glimpse of what they should look forward to once Windows 10 is officially released. While other companies would have been ruffled by the leak, Microsoft engineering general manager Gabriel Aul stated that they are not at all upset about it. They are also not worried if users choose to download the OS ahead of time. 

"How could we be upset about lots of people wanting to try our new stuff? We'd prefer you stick to official builds though," Aul said. 

But before choosing to download the leaked Windows 10, users are warned that a bug present in the leaked version might make it difficult to get upcoming Windows Insider updates in the future. It means that users will have to reinstall the operating system once the official software is finally released. 

The leak, which is dubbed as 9901, was released on Sunday. It offered a sneak peak of what is in store for Microsoft users who will choose to get the new operating system next year. 

One of the most notable features seen in the leaked Windows 10 OS is its familiar, more traditional look that was replaced when the Windows 8 was released. This means that the tiles interface will be removed, and the Start tab will return. Also, the leaked Windows 10 showcases the highly-anticipated virtual assistant Cortana, which is the Microsoft version of Apple's Siri. Cortana was earlier introduced in Windows phones through the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. 

The new Windows 10 is also seen with the new Xbox app, which includes an improved, user-friendly interface that makes playing easier for all users. The new app also includes easy navigation for players to share their Xbox games with their friends, as well as personal messages, achievements, as well as other settings. 

The Windows 10 consumer preview is expected to be released by Microsoft on January 21, 2015, and the final build will be rolled out by fall.
