Reports about the possibility of the release of another "Left 4 Dead" sequel continue to make waves online, as players refuse to give up hope that "Left 4 Dead 3" could still be released in the future.

The last game released from the critically and commercially successful first-person horror shooter franchise came out in 2009. "Left 4 Dead 2" set records for being the fastest-selling title from the company at the time, after reportedly beating its predecessor "Left 4 Dead" in pre-release sales by at least 300 percent.

Amid the success of both games in the "Left 4 Dead" franchise, Valve appears to be silent about the possible development of another game in the series. However, the fans' hopes started to intensify once again after game creator Turtle Rock Studios released a job posting on its website for a new animation programmer that could work on a new untitled project.

But the game studio earlier announced through its co-founder Phil Robb that they are not planning to work on another sequel anytime soon.

"I think we're pretty much done with it," Robb told Xbox Achievements back in February 2015. "It's Valve's thing now. We've kind of gone off in our own direction. So I'd kinda like to see something new being done with it, and Valve always does great stuff, but it'd be cool to go back to it as just a fan and not a developer. But I doubt you'll see anything from us."

Meanwhile, other speculations claim that Valve will make an announcement about the development of "Left 4 Dead 3" during the upcoming E3 convention in Los Angeles in June. But the game developer maintains its radio silence regarding the possibility of unveiling the next installment in the "Left 4 Dead" franchise.
