Similar to another Valve title, "Left 4 Dead 3" has been the subject of numerous rumors in recent months, with many of them indicating that the game is already in development.

The fact is that "Left 4 Dead 3" has yet to even be confirmed, let alone guaranteed to be in development, and there also appears to be another possible stumbling block.

As of now at least, there's no party that is said to be in charge of making the next "Left 4 Dead" game, and as for the team that originally made the zombie-infested shooter, that group seems to be out of the running for that job as well.

According to Chris Ashton, one of the co-founders of Turtle Rock Studios, otherwise known as the group that originally created the "Left 4 Dead" franchise, he believes that the sequel could eventually be made, although he places the odds of them being involved in the process as being unlikely, PC Gamer reported.

That bit of news is significant, mainly because if Turtle Rock Studios won't be involved in the creation of "Left 4 Dead 3," then there would be no obvious candidate to take their place.

Since the "Left 4 Dead" franchise belongs to Valve, they have complete control over what happens to it, and that means hiring anyone they would want to possibly make the next game. It could also provide an explanation as to why "Left 4 Dead 3" has yet to be confirmed, since there may be no team even hired to work on it yet.

According to Moviepilot, another reason for why "Left 4 Dead 3" remains unconfirmed is that Valve may simply be not prioritizing it. 

Valve is raking in big bucks right now from many of their other offerings and there would seem to be no big rush to come out with a new game just to tidy up profits.

Given all the uncertainty that still surrounds "Left 4 Dead 3," fans can only hope for now that more positive news comes out soon.
