'Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild' release date news: New gameplay trailer reveals the power of Runes

Nintendo

Nintendo of Europe released a new gameplay trailer for "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," showing how the Runes could be powerful in the game.

The game developer posted the short gameplay teaser on Twitter to showcase various abilities that Link can do with the Runes when playing the upcoming game. It includes the ability of creating ice pillars from the water that he can use to climb up on.

There are also other Runes that Link can use in the game, including the one that can allow him to summon an object underneath the water.

An earlier teaser also revealed that the Koroks will return in "The Legend of Zelda" series, and they will serve a vital role in the soon-to-be released game.

The tree-like creatures first appeared in "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker" back in 2003, and they helped Link in most of his adventures. But in the upcoming game, the Koroks will be reportedly hidden all over the new game's universe.

If the players could successfully find the Koroks, the creatures will provide the seeds to the link. Yet there are no information yet regarding the uses of the seeds in the game as of this time.

Game producer Eiji Aonuma told Edge Magazine in July, as reported by Segment Next, that the inspiration of "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind" comes from the 2014's E3 footage.

"After creating the trailer, I really wanted to put that in the game," the game producer said. "So I ended up making it come true. There's a lot I learned from that trailer. Once we'd put that element in the game, it made us think: what else can we do with this enemy? How else could we fight it? It expanded to new story ideas as well. The trailer became the basis for the whole game."

Nintendo is set to release "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind" in Wii U and the upcoming Nintendo NX sometime in 2017.
