"The Legend of Zelda: breath of the Wild" is one of Nintendo's most successful games recently and it is reasonable to expect that fans are clamoring for a sequel. There are rumors that the gameplay for the latest Zelda game will also heavily feature in the next installment. The same rumors say that the classic "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening" will get a remake for the Nintendo Switch.

The rumor started when Nintendo "insider" Marcus Sellars said that there will be a Nintendo Direct event on January 11. In this event, the leading video game company is supposed to discuss what's next for the "Legend of Zelda" franchise.

Supposedly, "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening" is a prime candidate for a remake on the Nintedo Switch. The game is the fourth installment in the main series of games and it was first released in 1993.

"Link's Awakening" was originally made for the Game Boy and the Game Boy Color, which made for a very limited world (but nonetheless fun and exciting for its time).

If rumors about the remake are true, the Nintendo Switch will afford the classic game an open-world experience.

The project is supposedly being handled by Grezzo. This is the same team that handled remakes of Zelda in the past, like the ones for "Ocarina of Time" and "Majora's Mask."

Still, the reports are based on rumors, and not all of them may come true.

Sellars himself does not have a record of putting out accurate information about Nintendo events. However, if a Nintendo Direct event does occur on January 11, there is a strong possibility that the rumor about remake can also be true.

In any case, remake or not, it is expected that the next Zelda game will be an open world experience similar to "Breath of The Wild." Producer Eiji Aonuma himself said that the freedom afforded by the latest Zelda game was well-received, and they plan to maintain that kind of freedom in future Zelda games.
