The cameras have already begun rolling for the anti-heroes of The CW's "Arrow" and "The Flash." Now, they have their opportunity to shine on their own in the new sci-fi action adventure series "Legends of Tomorrow."

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim revealed on Twitter that the third episode of the "Arrow/The Flash" spin-off started shooting Tuesday this week. The tweet also revealed that the executive producer wrote the script for the third episode of the first season, titled "Blood Ties," with "Chuck" writer and co-creator Chris Fedak.

Though Guggenheim did not provide more details about the script and the characters who will appear in that particular episode, there is the possibility that Fedak will be reunited with another "Chuck" alum Brandon Routh, who will reprise his role as Ray Palmer/The Atom in the new DC-adapted series.

Routh earned critical nods for portraying the recurring role of Daniel Shaw in "Chuck" back in 2010 and received the IGN Award for Best Villain in 2010. The actor will portray the role of The Atom in the new superhero series from The CW.

There is another "Chuck" staff working for the new series. Phil Klemmer, one of the executive producers for the show, also worked behind the scenes of the NBC action-comedy spy drama.

Meanwhile, "Legends of Tomorrow" will be introduced through crossover episodes between "Arrow" season 4 and "The Flash" season 2. In an interview with the Entertainment Weekly, "Arrow-verse" executive producer Andrew Kreisberg talked  about the upcoming crossover episodes.

"We're really excited about the crossover. We worked so hard on the crossovers last year, making sure that they were exciting, entertaining and bold. The only way to top it is to go even bigger and even bolder," Kreisberg said. "We're going to be introducing part of the Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) mythology in those episodes, and Kendra will play a big part in those. The crossovers are really going to set the stage for Legends, but in a cool way so that if you don't watch Arrow and Flash, and you didn't see the crossovers, you would still really enjoy Legends."

"Legends of Tomorrow" premieres in 2016.
