People can now mark down Jan. 26, 2016 on their calendars as the official release date of "Lego's Marvel Avengers."

The Jan. 26 release date applies to North America in particular. For European fans of either the Lego or Marvel franchise, they can expect the game to out a few days later on Jan. 29.

Originally, "Lego's Marvel Avengers" was expected to come out in late 2015. According to Forbes, the game's developer, TT Games may have opted to move the release date of "Lego's Marvel Avengers" to early next year in part to ensure that the title coming out is exactly what fans are expecting, and also to avoid the cluster of big-name games set to come out during that time of the year.

As for the game itself, "Lego's Marvel Avengers" is expected to feature a massive roster, with a total of about 150 characters set to be part of the game. A good number of the characters present in the new game will be familiar faces from an earlier "Lego Marvel" title, but fans will also have access to previously unavailable members of the Marvel universe.

There are some very notable characters set to be part of the "Lego's Marvel Avengers" roster, including Stan-buster, a new addition modeled after Iron-Man's Hulk-buster from the second "Avengers" movie combined with some of the distinguishing features of Marvel's mustachioed pioneer.

In addition to the game's ever-expanding roster, "Lego's Marvel Avengers" will also be putting greater emphasis on teamwork in the form of new co-op attacks that are stronger than most other offensive moves in the game.

Fans who will be pre-ordering "Lego's Marvel Avengers" on GameStop will also be given the chance to snag the Silver Centurion Iron-Man Lego figurine, according to IGN.

"Lego's Marvel Avengers" will be available on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, the PC and Mac.
