Following the launch of Microsoft's $70 Lumia 430 and Xiaomi's $97 Redmi 2A, Lenovo has also rolled out a budget category smartphone carrying the model name A1900. The device will carry a price tag of $60 and in the process, will cater to consumers who prefer owning entry level handsets that sport modest hardware specifications. A1900 is equipped with a SC7730 SoC running ARM's Cortex-A7 quad-core processor that is running at a default clock speed of 1.2 GHz.

Additionally, the handset also possesses Mali 400 graphics processor, along with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. With the negligible amount of on-board memory incorporated into the A1900, it is obvious that Lenovo has provided users with the means to expand that storage up to a maximum capacity of 32 GB. In terms of form factor, Lenovo's affordable handset possesses a 4 inch screen size that renders a resolution of 800 by 480.

Since the device is far cheaper than Microsoft's Lumia 430 and Xiaomi's Redmi 2A, Lenovo was forced to make a few sacrifices. Users will not be able to engage in heavy multitasking operations due to the limited amount of RAM and for carrier connectivity purposes, an LTE modem has been omitted from the equation. However, as an added benefit, Lenovo has provided dual SIM compatibility for A1900, along with 3G connectivity at the 2100 MHz frequency.

Another trade-off that Lenovo was forced to make was in the battery category. Lenovo's A1900 sports a 1,500 mAh battery, which will not be able to provide users with sufficient battery backup time. While the handset will only be available to purchase in the Chinese markets, Lenovo could ship it out to other locations if sales are boosted in this particular region. For a $60 smartphone, consumers on a budget will easily be able to satisfy their mobile computing needs with Lenovo's A1900.
