The Best Actor Oscar for 2016 went to Leonardo DiCaprio on Sunday in the 88th Academy Awards ceremony. DiCaprio had been overlooked for an Oscar numerous occasions before, but he finally won for his exceptional performance in The Revenant. Earlier in the night Alicia Vilkander won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Danish Girl.

Meanwhile, Spotlight won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, where as Inside Out won the Oscar for Best Animated Film.

Mad Max: Fury Road won a stream of awards on the night, including the Oscars for Best Costume Design, Best Editing, Best Hair and Makeup, Best Production Design, Best Sound Editing, as well as Best Sound Mixing.

Comedian Chris Rock entertained Hollywood's top actors and actresses, making regular references and jokes about the lack of black nominees in this year's Academy Awards.
