LG is a big player in the smartphone field. The LG G3 has left many users enamored of the device, which became wildly popular for its superior specs since its release back in June last year. While it is taking time for its successor to come along, the company that brought the formidable handset is working to launch an entirely different smartphone that will serve as a follow up to the LG G Flex. The handset expected to be a smartphone sensation goes by the name LG G Flex 2, which was already unveiled to the public at the recently-concluded Consumer Electronics Show. So will the new handset be a worthy jump from the LG G3? 

The design itself may probably the deciding factor for buyers. The upcoming LG G Flex 2 is distinct for its classy curved body, which is only 7.1 mm thin. The LG G3 is at 8.9 mm, a bit hulking when compared to its cousin but not that off-putting. Besides, it is relatively lighter (149 g) than the Flex 2 (152 g). 

Both, however, feature a 5.5-inch screen. The latter uses a curved P-OLED screen that can render 1080 x 1920 pixels and a 403 ppi pixel density. This is majorly topped by the G3's 1440 x 2560 pixels and a much crisper pixel density of 538 ppi. Android Origins opposes though, saying that its muted tones are lost by the Flex 2's vibrant colors and darker blacks. 

The LG G3 loses its grip as the showdown moves to the power department. Considering that the smartphone is already more than half a year in the showground, it relies on a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor for its performance. This, however, should already bring impressive power to the table. This unit's 2 GB and 3 GB RAM are chipped in for its 16 GB and 32 GB variants, respectively. The latter is the biggest option for memory size, but with its card slot, it can go up to 128 GB. 

The LG G Flex 2, on the other hand, should bear redoubtable power, with the hottest 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 inside of it. This unit bears eight cores, four clocked at 1.5 GHz and the other half at 2 GHz. The same system was applied for its RAM and ROM distribution, 16 GB for 2 GB RAM and 32 GB for 3 GB RAM. A card slot is also intact. 3G UK noted that the curved handset can make full use of the Android 5.0 Lollipop. 

Both pack a 13-megapixel rear-facing shooter but with a minor difference in pixels. Their shooters support optical image stabilization, dual-LED flash, laser autofocus and HD video recording. The LG handsets also house a 2.1-megapixel front-facing snapper. In terms of battery life, the LG G Flex 2 should step up as its rival is one of the most outlasting smartphones in the market. With its Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery, users can use it for 21 hours. It's exciting to see how Flex 2's Li-Po 3000 mAh will do. 

LG has yet to say a word about the pricing of its newest offering. Ecumenical News believes that it will hold a price tag of about $700. On the other hand, the LG G3 has captured the market since its launch months ago. With contract, it sells for $99. Without a tie-up, users can get it for $599.
