One of the most desirable Android handsets that was released in 2014 is about to get updated to Google's latest Android platform, the Lollipop 5.0 update. While the hardware specifications and unique features assimilated to the smartphone place the device on a stratum that is above the majority of the Android flagship devices that were released during that period, the G3's upgrade to the latest platform will improve that overall interface for users even further. 

News regarding the device's ascension to Google's Lollipop update was unearthed through LG USA's official Twitter account, which stated, "Introducing Lollipop: a sweet treat for your #LGG3."

The tweet was posted Friday and it is expected that the smartphone will be receiving the update next week. G3 owners who are waiting anxiously for the update to spring on their devices will have to keep a close eye on the update notifications. 

But then, since every Android device has been programmed to check updates on a regular basis, be it the operating system or the applications stored on the device, users will not have to worry about browsing to the update section as refreshing the update tab regularly will be a waste of their efforts. 

Similar to other devices, the Lollipop 5.0 update for LG's G3 will bring about ART runtime with improved performance and battery life. In addition to the performance improvements, new features like Smart Lock, lock screen notifications, and support for multiple users will also be present in the new update.

The only notable change that will be separating the G3 from the remainder of other devices is the company's own interface present inside the smartphone. With this interface, users might, or might not, be able to witness the major changes present in the update, such as Material Design. 

LG recently released its G Flex 2, which carries a Snapdragon 810 SoC along with the Lollipop update running out-of-the-box.
