Google continues to roll out Android Lollipop to more devices while it works on its newest mobile operating system dubbed as Android M. The latest build of the obtainable software, Android 5.1, is making its way to more and more handsets but unfortunately, it might not make it to the LG G3. 

LG Hellas, one of the tech company's subsidiaries in Greece, has recently revealed that there are still no plans regarding the 2014 flagship's move to Android 5.1 Lollipop. The LG G3 currently runs the 5.0 version. Its successor, the G4, has 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed. 

Media outlets claim that LG may simply be planning to update the 5.5-inch smartphone directly to Android M, which should be ready by next year. This means that the device will be stuck with 5.0 Lollipop for a while and users will have to wait for months before a big update arrives. 

Many hope that this is simply miscommunication and that the update will come soon. If not, this will surely test the patience of the owners of the acclaimed device, which came out in June last year and was actually one of the first handsets outside the Nexus line to get Android Lollipop. 

This is especially difficult knowing that more and more Android handsets are being upgraded to Android 5.1 Lollipop. Samsung's flagships Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are reportedly moving to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. T-Mobile customers with the handsets should be able to make the big jump as well. 

Also, beginning next month, the entire Sony Xperia Z series, along with the Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3, will get Android 5.1 while users of the KitKat-running Xperia M2 and M2 Aqua were promised that the new firmware would roll out later this year, shortly after the aforementioned devices get the Lollipop treatment.
